Everyday, as soon as I wake up, I tune to some news channel and try to gasp what’s going around. The news is always same; deaths, injuries, lies, terror. I don’t know why I always tune again and again even though I know the story is always same. Only difference is the characters and the place. I wish whenever I wake up, I could see some good news which lightens me up and makes my day. I know this is the wish which even Aladdin’s Jinni might not be able to fulfill but still I wish. The Buddha was born here! I reassure myself. Someday my wish will be granted and peace will prevail on earth. After all Buddha was born here!
Am I a peace activist? No!
Then why I care about the word - peace? Yesterday I felt horrible seeing Tibetans activists getting batons of cops in Kathmandu. Yes, our government supports One China Policy but can’t it acknowledge individual’s right to protest and freedom of speech? After all it came to power through same kind of wave of protest demanding democracy and human rights. Then how could this government quell the protest like this? Isn’t this sheer hypocrisy?
But I assured myself; someday everything will be just as perfect as it should be. After all the Buddha was born here! I reassure myself.
But why I am reassuring myself saying Buddha was born here. He was dead 2500 years before. He tried to understand the life and which he succeed too, but whatтАЩs the relevance here now? His own followers are perishing. His messenger, the Dalai Lama, is forced to leave his home and stay as refugee in India. The world has become more chaotic and violent.
Has his beliefs’, teaching failed?
Do we have to raise arms to make our voices heard?
May be not. Gandhi didn’t raise the arm nor did we, the Nepali people, raise arms against autocratic rule of King Gyanendra. Mandela also crushed the autocrats peacefully and so did May be this examples made be believe Buddha’s teaching are still relevant. And someday we will adapt to it. That’s why I keep assuring myself saying the Buddha was born here. That’s why I am still dreaming about peaceful and developed Nepal. After all Buddha was born here!

Belief has not failed, it’s believing in the right thing that is important….
Buddha tried to understand the life, but did he know the Way, Truth and the Life?
Sometimes, you will know the truth and the truth will set u free….so relevant for our violent world indeed….
